THE LITTLE MERMAID

Once upon a time, there lived a little mermaid under the sea who longed to live in the world above the sea.

One day, as a great ship went by, she saw a handsome prince on board.

Suddenly, a great storm came up and everyone on the ship was washed into the sea.

The little mermaid saved the drowning prince and fell in love with him.

She wanted to marry the prince and live above the sea.

So the little mermaid got a magic potion from a sea witch. If the little mermaid could win the love of the prince she could live above the sea forever.

Sadly, the prince married another, and the little mermaid would die unless she killed the prince.

But she could not kill her beloved prince, so she threw herself back into the sea where she died.

Because of her goodness, her spirit would live forever.
